Background

Launched in 2012 through a unique partnership with a nonprofit in Chicago, Oprima-1, LLC (“Press/Dial One” in Spanish) is a business process outsourcer providing bilingual (Spanish/English) inbound customer care and outbound telemarketing call center services.   By employing recent Latino immigrants exclusively who possess cultural awareness and native language skills, Oprima-1 cost effectively connects businesses to customers in the US and Latin America.

As a social enterprise, Oprima-1 meets the challenge faced by the English and job training nonprofit PODER by employing their students in entry level call center positions.  These transitional jobs allow students to earn wages and provide for their families while developing the English and other marketable job skills that will allow for seamless entrance into Chicago’s mainstream workforce.
